Deep South Museum and Archives is an attempt to establish a public learning space in the service of building a democratic space where a plurality of views and experiences can be shared. We believe that systematic data collection together with education can help to build knowledge and understanding whilst, at the same time, preserving and restoring people’s memories. By putting forward the facts, we seek to challenge impunity and overcome efforts to forget. This, we believe, is at the core of the transitional justice process.
